Adventure Service Tourism, Where Adventure Meets Voluntourism

Youth Environmental Education

Working with youths who grow up in the rainforest provides a unique opportunity to foster conservation and environmental awareness and action practices from a young age. The schoolyard is often home to an artificial beach used in the yellow spotted side-neck (taricaya) turtle project. In collaboration with the management groups and teachers alike, environmental education is promoted among youth with the idea of creating environmentally literate citizens. It is possible for volunteers to participate in the already established environmental education programs. In addition to environmental education, children and professors would also enjoy and benefit from any other activities ranging from theatre and music, to biology and chemistry – depending on the previous experiences and interests of the volunteers.
